Melissa Lynn is an Austin, TX based, emerging artist. She has been creating in various genres since she was a child, and painting with acrylic on canvas has always been her preferred medium. Melissa is self taught, with no formal training since grade school. She became a single mother right out of high school, in 2000, and struggled to make ends meet, which pushed her creative outlets to the back-burner.
With her children now grown, Melissa is painting again as a way to examine and heal from her journey through life as a teenage mother, living through poverty and abuse, to becoming a successful entrepreneur, and everything that happened in between. Through strong movement, heavy textures, and vibrant colors, Melissa expresses the vast spectrum of whimsical and powerful women. She aims to showcase the power of sisterhood, and the beauty of complexity that feminine energy brings to the world. Rarely planning ahead, Melissa Lynn works in a structure-less setting, trusting her process and allowing the paintings to take on a life of their own.
After being hired by a prominent interior design company to paint a wall mural, in 2021, friends began to encourage Melissa to show her artwork on social media, which led to her first art exhibition. Since then she has created a steady stream of commissioned paintings, while continuing to expand and learn as an artist.
